High-yield PMHNP-BC study priorities
Priority 1
Rule out danger and medical causes
Before settling on a psychiatric diagnosis, assess immediate risk, substance effects, withdrawal, delirium, neurologic or endocrine illness, medication effects, and physiologic instability.
Priority 2
Make psychopharmacology a monitoring loop
Connect target symptoms, evidence, dose, kinetics, interactions, laboratory data, metabolic and neurologic effects, pregnancy factors, adherence, and follow-up.
Priority 3
Know the difference between therapies
Study indication, mechanism, structure, therapist stance, techniques, boundaries, and expected outcomes—not just therapy names.
Priority 4
Practise legal-ethical thresholds
Use scenarios involving capacity, consent, confidentiality exceptions, duty to protect, involuntary care, least-restrictive alternatives, minors, and documentation.
